SR Shetye National Institute of Oceanography Goa “Ships regularly clean tanks and discharge the waste oil at sea, but in this case a vessel dumping oil exceeded all proportions. Crude oil mixes with water to form an emulsion that looks like chocolate pudding. Winds and waves continue to stretch and tear the oil patches into smaller pieces, or tar balls.”

John Falkingham Sea Ice Consultant Ottawa Last week's incident underlines the inadequate charting of Arctic waters. It is the single biggest issue in the Arctic."

Professor Verena Tunnicliffe University Of Victoria BC. Canada Exploration Command Centre NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory Seattle “Stalked sea lilies once covered the ocean, shallow and deep, but now are rare. “I’ve only seen a few in my career, but on this expedition, I was amazed to see them in great diversity on nearly every ROV dive. I’ve seen them before in other places around seafloor vents, but those animals were perhaps an inch in size. The sea spiders imaged on this mission were huge, eight inches or more across.”

Tim Shank Marine biologist Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts “This first exploration of the Indonesian deep-sea has revealed a high diversity of species and a significantly different composition between shallower water fauna and deep-sea fauna. This discovery is significant because it suggests that the evolutionary processes that shaped this deep-sea faunal diversity may be similar to those that resulted in the high diversity of shallow water fauna in the broader Coral Triangle region.”

Gichiri Ndua Managing Director Mombasa Port “Bidders will be required to provide bid bond of $500,000. There shall be an organised site visit on 13 September 2010 starting from 0930 hrs. The extension of container berths will enable the port to handle three container vessels simultaneously. Commercial ports efficiency world over are measured on the time it takes for imports and exports to leave the port.”

A compilation of video clips collected in deepwater by the Little Hercules Remotely Operated Vehicle and camera platform during the INDEX-SATAL 2010 Exploration of the Sangihe Talaud Region. Known as "America's ship for ocean exploration", the Okeanos Explorer, in partnership with NOAA's Office of Ocean Exploration (OER), will travel around the globe to map and characterize largely unknown areas of the ocean. The Okeanos Explorer can discover interesting seafloor features with the deep water multibeam sonar mapping system. In addition, the ship has a dedicated Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), which can travel down to a depth of 4,000 meters. Images and high-definition video from the ROV and camera platform will be sent from the vehicles on the seafloor to the ship and to shore in real-time, a technology referred to as "telepresence." These are the best Goan's beaches edited by Agnelo Dsouza..Goa beaches This clip from the "Five Ways to Save the World" details a cheap, simple, and low-risk way to compensate for global warming. If the reflectivity of clouds could be increased slightly, sufficient sunlight would be reflected to compensate for any future release of CO2 into the atmosphere. One method of doing this would be to eject seawater spray into the air using a fleet of automated ships. It's estimated that 50 ships costing a few million dollars each could spray enough seawater to do the job.Using Cloud-Seeding GeoEngineering
